How to Clean Wire-Wrapped Crystal Jewellery
Step 1: Gather Materials
Prepare a surface with kitchen roll or a tea towel. This will protect your delicate jewellery from knocks and the surface below from any cleaning products. I clean my jewellery in batches based on the metal type. Some crystals may not react well to strong cleaners, so I recommend using Connoisseurs Delicate Jewellery Cleaner. You can find it on Amazon. All my crystal jewellery can be dipped in the cleaner for a short time and it will work on all metal types. You’ll also need a bowl of lukewarm water to rinse the jewellery and two clothes: one for drying and one for polishing.
Step 2: Gentle Cleaning
Follow the instructions on which ever cleaning product you are using. If you are using the product I’ve recommended, then you will dip one piece at a time into the liquid for just 30 seconds, then remove and use a lint free cloth or a soft toothbrush to remove dirt and tarnishing. Jewellery purchased from me, is handmade with metal wires, the weaving wires are quite delicate, rub or brush gently in the direction of the wire to avoid damaging the wires, if you’ve used a good cleaning product it shouldn’t take much to bring the shine back to your jewellery.
Step 3: Rinse and Dry
Now it’s important to rinse the piece in luke warm water all it needs is a quick gently swish, then gently pat dry the piece, you can then use a polishing cloth to finish off and get that jewellery sparkling.
Please note repeated, excessive exposure to sunlight may bleach the colour of your stones and some stones are water soluble so do not wear your jewellery in the shower, bath or when swimming as the stone may wear and disintegrate over time.
How to Prevent Tarnishing on Crystal Jewellery
Store in a Dry Sealed Container
Keep your crystal jewellery in a dry, cool enclosed place to prevent moisture and oxygen from causing tarnish.
Use Anti-Tarnish Strips
Place anti-tarnish strips in your jewellery box to absorb moisture and prevent tarnishing.
Avoid Exposure to Chemicals
Keep your crystal jewellery away from harsh chemicals, including perfumes and cleaning products.
Regular Cleaning
Clean your jewellery regularly to remove any residues that might cause tarnishing.

Enhance Your Crystal Jewellery's Energetic Properties
To ensure your crystal jewellery maintains its energetic properties, it’s essential to regularly cleanse and charge your pieces. I’ve already done a lot of the work for you, by providing a box that is energetically set to cleanse and charge your crystal jewellery. However, your jewellery will love getting special attention from you. (And yes, you can use the box to put in jewellery you purchased elsewhere) Begin by cleaning your crystal jewellery by following the steps listed above.
DO NOT PLACE IN SALT! This will ruin your jewellery and damage many crystals, contrary to popular belief. For a deep cleanse, you can use sound healing techniques such as singing bowls or tuning forks, even singing to your stones is a valid way to energetically cleanse them. Although passing your jewellery through incense can do the job, I find that crystals respond best to sound and Reiki.
If you are a Reiki practitioner you can both cleanse and charge your crystals with Reiki, for beginners simple cup your crystals or your crystal jewellery in your hands and imagine the Reiki flowing into and around the piece. If you have learned Reiki symbols or the Reiki Kotodama, you can cleanse the piece with Cho Ku Rei and charge the piece with all of the energies or any one energy that you want the piece to align with.
Once cleansed, other methods to charge your crystals include placing them under the light of a full moon or visualising them brimming with beautiful light that matches their colour, or use white if the jewellery contains multiple colours. This process revitalizes the crystals, enhancing their natural vibrations and ensuring they continue to support your well-being. You can also take this time to visualise or focus on an intention for your crystal jewellery, inviting the stones and metal to fuse with and support your intention.

Connoisseurs Delicate Jewellery Cleaner
I’ve found this an effective cleaner that is gentle enough not to damage crystals or softer stones and also works well with gold and silver. Although it suggests that it’s safe for Opals, I would be nervous to use any liquid cleaner with Opals.
Connoisseurs Jewellery Wipes for Gold and Silver
I have to say I love these, I find them very effective and ideal for quickly polishing up a piece of Jewellery. Just remember to be gentle with fine wire-wrapped jewellery.
Anti Tarnish Strips
I do think these make some difference especially if stored properly. They do need to be replaced every few months. There are several Amazon options for the same sort of product. These suit most items and can be cut into quarters for small rings or earrings.
Selenite Charging Plate
A 10cm selenite plate to charge multiple pieces of jewellery simultaneously. You will need to energetically cleanse the plate from time to time.
Crystal Tuning Fork
Utilise sound healing to cleanse and charge your crystal jewellery. The tuning fork is small and a super quick way to cleanse and charge your jewellery or crystals. When you remove your jewellery before bed (I recommend doing so), sound the tuning fork over all the pieces and put them in an airtight storage container.
Tip! Keep your Selenite Charging Plate on your dressing table. At the end of the day, place any jewellery you’ve been wearing on the plate and run a tuning fork over the whole setup. This will clear both the jewellery and the plate. Then, cover the setup with a bowl to minimize air exposure. Your jewellery will be charged up and ready in the morning to be worn again or put away.
