If you are single I’m reasonably confident you might be sick of the sympathetic self-love vibe on Valentine’s day. I know that being single can be a choice. It can also be part of a person’s mission to develop self-love and a sense of wholeness before engaging in a relationship.
Celebrating who you are, your choice to be whole through self-love is so important, but it’s not just important for single people, it’s important for those of you in an exciting new relationship and those who have been together for a long time.
Honouring our wholeness, our individuality, through acts of self-love and self-care is a vital part of maintaining a healthy relationship with others and with yourself.
And although this is the time of year when everyone is promoting Valentine’s day, self-love and compassion. My hope is that should you purchase a piece of jewellery from me today that it will serve as a reminder to practice self-love and care regardless of the time of year, or your relationship status.
Gifting to Others on Valentine’s Day
A common mistake in relationships generally is that we tend to express our love in the way that we’d like to receive love. In actual fact your partner, friend or other loved one may have a very different view on what counts as a meaningful expression of love. How they express their love to you may even be a clue as to how they would like you to express love to them, especially if they are making the above mistake.
Do they shower you with loving words? Acts of service? Physical gifts? This might be a clue.
If they offer loving words be sure to add some loving words with your gift, if they go for acts of service like pampering you in some way add a promise of beautiful night with your gift, if they happen to be the gifting type, make sure you put some extra thought into the jewellery you buy, is it there birthstone, Zodiac stone or does it support something they are interested in or reflect that you were paying attention to some aspect of their life that was meaningful to them. How can you help them celebrate who they are?
